During its meeting last weekend in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Executive Board of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) discussed the appointment of the host nations for the 2010 World Cups.

The FIH Executive Board decided to enter discussions with the Indian Hockey Confederation (IHC) to determine if the Men's World Cup could be held in New Delhi, India, in February 2010. A proposal is being sent to the IHC and it is hoped that a decision can be taken within a month.

The Board in principle appointed Argentina as the host of the Women's World Cup 2010. Final confirmation is expected by September 2007.

In future, the FIH will take a much more active part in the organization of FIH tournaments, including the World Cups, to assist hosts to achieve the objectives of maximizing the marketing and development of the sport while at the same time producing the best playing conditions for the athletes.
