A wonderful hockey development initiative was held on 16 June, South Africa’s Youth Day, at Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town, the venue hosting the FIH Hockey Men’s Nations Cup 2025-26, which runs until 20 June.
The second day of pool play at the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup New Zealand 2025-26 saw pre-tournament favourites India and New Zealand secure second consecutive wins in Pool A and B over Japan and Chile respectively, which booked their semi-final places. USA in Pool A bounced back from a narrow defeat against India on day one, to get their campaign back on track against Uruguay, while Korea and France played out a 1-1 draw in the other Pool B match.
The FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup New Zealand 2026 got underway in Auckland with all eight teams in action on opening day. The higher ranked sides got victories across all four matches, but each match was incredibly competitive, keeping things wide open heading into day two.
Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town saw two hours of exhilarating hockey action on Sunday as Japan and New Zealand edged closer to the semifinals of the FIH Hockey Men's Nations Cup.
England’s men delighted the home crowd in London with a crucial victory over Australia as the FIH Hockey Pro League action continued across three venues on Sunday. The result left the two teams level on points in second and third place in the standings, although the Kookaburras still have a game in hand. In Amsterdam, the Netherlands also gave their fans plenty to celebrate, edging India 3-2 in a hard-fought contest. In the women’s tournament, Belgium and Argentina did little to boost their title ambitions after playing out a 2-2 draw, with Argentina securing the bonus point by winning the shootout. The Netherlands, meanwhile, extended their commanding lead at the top of the table with another emphatic victory over Ireland, while Germany claimed their second straight win over England.
