The Junior Pan American Cup 2026 came to a conclusion over the past weekend with Argentina striking gold across both men’s and women’s competition. In the men’s competition, Canada finished second and Chile finished third, as both teams also qualified for the next edition of the FIH Hockey Junior World Cup. In the women’s competition, joining Argentina on the podium and in the upcoming Junior World Cup are USA and Uruguay, who finished second and third respectively.
Argentina were dominant in the men’s competition winning all six of their pool stage matches to top the table, scoring 66 goals and conceding just twice. Canada finished second on the table, winning five out of their six matches, followed by USA and Chile, who finished with near identical records, with three wins, two losses and one draw in their head-to-head match-up seeing them finish on 10 points, with USA taking third place in the pool, thanks to their better goal difference.
Argentina registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Chile in the first semi-final, qualifying for the final as well as the Junior World Cup. It was a much tighter affair in the other semi-final between Canada and USA, with a back-and-forth match ending tied at 3-3. Canada took the win in the shoot-out, joining Argentina in the title match and the upcoming Junior World Cup.
Chile became the third and final team to qualify for the World Cup, winning the bronze medal match against USA, scoring once in each half to seal a 2-0 win. Argentina completed the perfect tournament securing the title with a 4-0 win over Canada, winning their 14th title across the 15 editions of the competition!
In the women’s competition, Argentina mirrored the success of their men’s side with a perfect tournament, starting off with the pool stage where they won all five of their matches to take top spot. USA and Uruguay finished with three wins and two losses each to take second and third spots, while Chile with two wins and a draw completed the semi-finals line-up in fourth.
Argentina continued to dominate, winning the first semi-final against Chile with a 7-0 scoreline. A tight affair between USA and Uruguay in the second semi-final produced late drama, with Uruguay finding an equaliser in the last minute to send the match into a shoot-out. USA pulled ahead in the shoot-out, to join Argentina in qualifying for the final as well as the next edition of the Junior World Cup.
Uruguay took the final Junior World Cup qualification spot from the competition with a tight 1-0 win over Chile in the Bronze medal match. Argentina and USA were tied at 1-1 for most part of the final, but two final quarter penalty stroke goals from Chiara Ambrosini – who also scored the first goal of the game for Argentina — sealed the win for the defending champions, taking them to their 9th title in the competition’s history.
