The business end of the FIH Hockey Pro League season 5 will get underway from 22 May as a new mini-tournament is set to begin in Antwerp, Belgium. With 6 men’s and 6 women’s teams in action from 22 May to 2 June, fans are guaranteed to be treated to ‘Hockey at its best’! 

The first leg of the mini-tournament will be played from 22 May to 26 May and will feature Belgium, India, Argentina and Ireland competing in the men’s competition. It will be the teams from Belgium, India, Argentina and USA competing in the women’s matches. 

The second leg of the mini-tournament will be played from 29 May to 3 June with China, Argentina, Belgium and Australia competing in the women’s competition. In the men’s mini-tournament it will be Spain, Argentina and Australia who will join hosts Belgium. 

In the men’s competition, defending champions Netherlands currently hold the lead with 26 points, having played 12 of their 16 matches for the season. They are followed closely by Australia in second, having secured 20 points from 8 games thus far. India and Argentina, who will both be in action at the Antwerp mini-tournament alongside second-placed Australia, sit in third and fourth places with 15 and 13 points respectively from their 8 games.

In the women’s competition, defending champions Netherlands have been absolutely unstoppable. Having played 12 of their 16 games, Netherlands boast of an unblemished record, winning all 12 games with a cumulative goal difference of +45! A resurgent China find themselves second in the table, having registered 15 points from their 8 games, followed closely by Argentina and Australia on 14 and 12 points respectively, with all three teams in action at the Antwerp mini-tournament.
