The men's team of Australia has once again been tested by their New Zealand counterparts, drawing with the Black Sticks for the second match in a row in game two of the current three test series.

In a similar fashion to the first match of the series played in Newcastle on Wednesday night, the Kookaburras were active in front of goal early in the match.

However despite several close attempts, the Kookaburras were unable to open their scoring account in the first half.

With both teams ruing a number of missed opportunities, it would be New Zealand who would register the first score of the match, with David Kosoof adding to his goal tally for the series.

In a similar pattern from game one when finding themselves behind on the scoreboard, the Kookaburras responded, with Nathan Eglington converting for the home side from a clever penalty corner set play.

Both goal keepers were put through their paces throughout the remainder of the match, with Kookaburra Daniel McPherson continuing his fine form from game one with a number of brilliant saves.

While obviously disappointed not to come away with the win, coach Colin Batch said he was pleased with the way a number of issues from Wednesday nights match had been addressed.

"We created a number of chances in the first half and although it was a lower scoring match I believe we improved in a number of areas from Wednesday nights match in Newcastle. In particular, I believe our work deep in defense was much better," said Batch.

Batch was also full of praise for New Zealand and their performance.

"They have shown that they are quite a good side and their defensive work deserves credit. This series has proven to be good preparation for next weeks Champions Trophy tournament and we have one more game to fine tune everything."

The final game of the three test series will be played at 14:00 on Sunday 25 November at Sydney Olympic Park.
