Scotland's U21 womenÔÇÿs team to play Germany Under 21 in a two-match series at the National Centre in Inverclyde next weekend has been named, with four of the current U18 squad members included.

The 20-player squad includes a number of seasoned campaigners including goalkeeper Cath Rae (Grange Edinburgh Ladies), Laura Wrightson (Kelburne) and Holly Cram (Glasgow En-Croute Western) who all played key roles in gaining qualification for the Junior World Cup which takes place later this year. Rae and Cram were also named as ones to watch for the senior squad by National Coach and Scottish Institute of Sport High Performance Coach Lesley Hobley.

The team includes some promising new athletes who will be using this as an opportunity to catch the eye of the selectors in a bid to lay claim to a place for Chile. Missing in action are players from Bonagrass Grove who were unavailable for selection as they will be on club duty in Holland for the European Club Championships. They are still in contention for places in the final 18 for the Junior World Cup.

'It's very early days in our preparations and we're looking at this as a chance to view players, including some of the U18 squad. This is a wonderful opportunity for the team. Germany were second in Europe last year and the senior team are the Olympic champions so while we are obviously hoping for a good result it is more about evaluating the way we play, particularly against top flight opposition,' coach Keith Joss said.

The teams will play four matches in total, two friendlies and two opportunities for the squad to obtain international caps. The German team is also using the opportunity to test U18 players ahead of the Junior World Cup in Santiago, Chile in September this year.
