WHU: The Welsh Hockey Union is soaring high thanks to a record-breaking sponsorship deal that has been secured with Royal Air Force Careers.

The Welsh Hockey Union has secured a three-year extension to an eight-year arrangement with RAF Careers, which provides the Welsh Hockey Union with funding and personnel support to run junior competitions and hockey camps throughout Wales.

The three-year extension makes RAF Careers Welsh Hockey's longest standing sponsor.

ÔÇ£We are delighted to have secured an extension to the longstanding partnership that we have with RAF Careers and hope to build on the foundations put in place in previous years to deliver a competition structure in Wales that provides appropriate competition at all levels,ÔÇØ Welsh Hockey Union Chief Executive Mike Bull said.

ÔÇ£The partnership is much more than just hard cash. RAF Careers provide us with team building support, venues for our youth hockey camps, Youth Hockey Activator training, careers advice and on many occasions event organisational supportÔÇØ.

Air Commodore Mike Barter, the RAF's Director of Recruiting, was equally as enthusiastic about the renewed partnership.

ÔÇ£We are delighted to be involved at grassroots level and look forward to assisting in the development of talent and teamwork within Welsh youth hockey.ÔÇØ

ÔÇ£The RAF, who also currently sponsor youth basketball, and English schools football, looks forward to providing support to a programme designed to significantly improve the quality of youth hockey.

ÔÇ£Within the RAF we are extremely supportive of personnel who pursue sporting interests whether they compete at local or international level. Through engagement in youth hockey we aim to raise general awareness of the RAF and the exciting and rewarding career opportunities within the Service.ÔÇØ
