Every day, over 150 boys and girls gather on its fields, many coming from underprivileged backgrounds, including slums, orphanages, and vulnerable communities. Operating entirely free of cost, the academy breaks down financial barriers and ensures equal opportunity for all. Here, young athletes are not only taught skills with the stick and ball but are also guided in discipline, teamwork, and respect—values that shape them into responsible citizens.

At the heart of its mission lies inclusion. Girls and boys train side by side, learning the importance of equality and mutual respect. The academy also actively promotes a drug-free lifestyle, using sport as a tool to steer youth away from harmful influences and towards positive growth.

The impact of Ostad Fazlu Hockey Academy reaches far beyond its field. Many of Bangladesh’s national players trace their roots back to this very community, carrying forward its legacy on international stages and proudly representing the nation. The academy also contributes to the development of technical officials, producing umpires who have officiated at major global events, including the Junior World Cup.

On 6 April 2026, as the world celebrates the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the academy will host a special hockey event in Old Dhaka.
