A year ago, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) was launching the most thorough and extensive review of its website in order to offer a greatly modernised platform combining more engaging content and a more appealing look and feel. It even went so far as changing its name – moving from FIH.ch to FIH.hockey – to better reflect its global nature.

Twelve months later, a look at the FIH.hockey data confirms that it was the right move (note: the below figures compare the April 2022-April 2023 period with the April 2021-April 2022 period):

The number of users has seen an impressive surge of 173,3% (4.1M vs 1.5M users)! This confirms both the fan awareness of the new website as well as its attractiveness. Furthermore, the top 10 countries with most users show how much hockey’s interest is spread all around the world: 4 nations from Europe (UK, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands), 2 from Asia (India, Malaysia), 2 from Pan America (Argentina, US), 1 from Oceania (Australia) and 1 from Africa (South Africa).

The number of page views since the launch of the new website is almost 8 times higher (30.9 M vs 3.5 M page views)! Fans are exploring more pages, which is a very encouraging indicator of the website's engagement and quality of content. The best performing pages include Matches, Standings, Overview, “Where to Watch” and World Rankings.

The number of page views per session has almost doubled (3.08 vs 1.63 page views). This again is a positive indicator of the quality of the content.

83.4 % of the traffic comes from mobile; this is up from 76.8 % from the previous period, which confirms that FIH.hockey is mobile-friendly, fast and responsive.

81.7 % of the traffic comes from organic search; this is up from 62.65 % from the previous period and shows that the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is working well.

All international match schedules and scores are updated LIVE.

Box Scores were captured/added for every match of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela.

Commercial Partners’ visibility has been increased through constant addition of banner ads, pop-up images and sponsor strips for all FIH events.

FIH President Tayyab Ikram said: “Really happy with this very encouraging start for our renewed website, which plays a big role in the continuous transformation and modernization of our digital ecosystem that is essential to provide all our stakeholders – our fans, in the first place - with the content they’re looking for. FIH.hockey will soon be enriched with content specifically dedicated to athletes, as well as a revamped section on hockey development. It will also become an important tool for our ongoing consultation process with all stakeholders of FIH, the National Associations in particular.”
