Thirty fourth-grade students from Towne Elementary School, in Carson, Calif., had the rare opportunity to learn field hockey from U.S. Olympian Ashley Sessa on Tuesday morning at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Sessa is a current member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and competed in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. She is also a three-time NCAA field hockey national champion and a senior forward at Northwestern University.
During the Tuesday field hockey clinic, Sessa passed along her skills to the students, teaching them how to hold a field hockey stick, and dribble, pass, receive and drive the ball.
On behalf of Osaka World, a leading sports and lifestyle brand in field hockey, Sessa also presented Towne Avenue Elementary with a $5,000 donation for field hockey equipment. AEG and Dignity Health Sports Park also donated $2,000 to support growing the game.
The Olympic Field Hockey competition will take place at Dignity Health Sports Park during the LA28 Olympic Games. The field is also slated to host four other Olympic sports and three Paralympic Sports during the Games.
