The World Economic Forum (WEF) has selected the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as one of three case studies in its Sports for People and Planet report—developed by @World Economic Forum and Oliver Wyman—which explores how sport can enhance and amplify its positive impact through multi-stakeholder action on communities, economies, and the environment.

Amongst other points, the report highlights that “FIH is embedding sustainable innovation and resource stewardship at the core of its growth strategy. As a signatory of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, FIH has positioned itself as a leading actor in the sport ecosystem, employing high-profile partnerships throughout the sports economy to drive positive environmental and social impact.”

FIH President Tayyab Ikram, commenting on the report, said:

“Being selected as one of the three case studies in this significant WEF report on the future of sport and its role for society is a major recognition of FIH's efforts to act as a catalyst for positive social change, particularly in terms of sustainability. This also serves as further encouragement to continue on the path we have chosen. I urge the global hockey community to embrace this move, as the social role of sport is more important than ever.”
