Following a superb second place finish in the 2022-23 edition, Great Britain will enter the 2023-24 FIH Hockey Pro League in confident mood. GB were outstanding throughout last season’s campaign, claiming a 32-point haul that included eight outright wins, three winning draws and just three defeats. They r ecorded notable victories over competition winners the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, India, Belgium, Spain, and newly crowned world champions Germany. Strikers Sam Ward and Nick Bandurak were hugely impressive in front of goal, netting 11 and 12 goals respectively. Both players also made crucial contributions at the EuroHockey Championships 2023, inspiring England to their best highest c ontinental championship finish since winning the event in 2009. While the majority of Great Britain’s squad is made up by England players, the cream of the Wales and Scotland sides are also fighting for places as they build towards the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Wales duo Rupert Shipperley and Jacob Draper are both in the running for selection, as is 31-year-old striker Alan Forsyth, who has scored a combined 171 international goals in 211 appearances for Scotland and Great Britain. The team is coached by vastly experienced South African Paul Revington, who has held coaching roles with South Africa men, Malaysia men as well as two spells with the England and GB set-up. Fit, fearless and very talented, Great Britain can compete with the very best teams in the world.

This season, Great Britain will take to the field for FIH Hockey Pro League ‘mini-tournaments’ in Santiago del Estero (ARG), London (ENG), Utrecht (NED) and Amsterdam (NED).

One to watch: Zach Wallace. Nominated for the 2019 FIH Rising Star of the Year Award, Zach Wallace has established himself as a world class player who can have an impact in almost any position. The 24-year-old, who currently plays for Dutch club giants H.C. Bloemendaal, is an extraordinary talent capable of scoring outrageous goals, as proven by his stunning, Poligras Magic Skill 2023 Award-winning strike against New Zealand in last year’s Pro League competition.
