The International Hockey Federation (FIH) deeply regrets the passing of Brian Bremner, MBE, from New Zealand. Brian was awarded the FIH Order of Merit in 1992. Bremner was member of the FIH Council until 1998 and served in different FIH Committees in his career as sport administrator.

Brian played representative hockey for Otago and was an internationally graded umpire who officiated at test matches during the 1960's and 1970's, including the prestigious International Tournament in Christchurch in 1974. He served as President of the New Zealand Hockey Association (Men) and was a Life Member of both the New Zealand Hockey Federation and the Wellington Hockey Association.

Brian was a National Hockey Stadium Trustee and served on the original committee responsible for the first artificial hockey turf in the Wellington region.

Brian was appointed to the International Hockey Federation as a New Zealand representative and held positions on various committees for 24 years.
