The countdown to the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 has officially begun. Taking place from 15 to 30 August 2026, the tournament will be jointly hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, bringing together the very best hockey talent from around the globe to compete at the flagship event of the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

This edition will feature both the Women’s and Men’s Hockey World Cups simultaneously, with all matches being played across the same venues. This format highlights the FIH’s commitment to equality, visibility, and the continued growth of the sport for all athletes.

Adding excitement and personality to the tournament are two lovely new mascots, unveiled during the official World Cup draw held on 17 March 2026 at the Wagener Stadium in Amsterdam, one of the tournament venues alongside the Belfius Arena in Wavre, Belgium.

Following their reveal, hockey fans from around the world were invited to submit name suggestions, helping to create a special connection between the event and its global community.

After receiving an enthusiastic response from fans, FIH is delighted to introduce the official mascots of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026: Wobble and Bubble.

The names perfectly capture the spirit of hockey and the energy of the tournament. Wobble embodies movement, agility, and the quick changes of direction that are so characteristic of the game. Bubble represents joy, energy, fun, and togetherness, reflecting the vibrant atmosphere that hockey creates both on and off the field. Together, Wobble and Bubble are playful, memorable, and family-friendly ambassadors who will help inspire and engage fans throughout the World Cup journey.

On the field, the competition promises to be exceptional. A total of 32 teams - comprising 16 women’s teams and 16 men’s teams - will compete for hockey’s most prestigious prize. The tournament will showcase the world’s finest athletes as they battle for the coveted World Cup trophy and the opportunity to etch their names into hockey history.

Beyond the competition itself, the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 stands as a powerful symbol of inclusivity and unity. Not only are the Women’s and Men’s World Cups being staged together at the same venues, but the event will also coincide with the launch of the inaugural FIH Hockey Para Hockey World Cup. This landmark addition reflects the FIH’s vision of creating a sport that is inclusive, welcoming, and representative of all athletes.

With world-class competition, a celebration of diversity, and the infectious energy of Wobble and Bubble leading the way, the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 promises to be a truly unforgettable festival of hockey.
