With just one month to go until the start of the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers 2026, the global hockey community is gearing up for one of the most thrilling turns of the international calendar.
The Qualifiers — played from 1-14 March 2026 — mark the final, decisive stage of the journey to the FIH Hockey World Cup Belgium & Netherlands 2026 (15 – 30 August). With 9 men’s and women’s teams already qualified, these tournaments will determine the remaining 7 nations that will earn their place at hockey’s biggest stage later this year.
A Global Stage in Three Host Cities
Teams from around the world will battle across three continents in three host cities:
- Santiago, Chile (1–8 Mar): Men’s and Women’s Qualifier featuring eight teams per gender.
- Ismailia, Egypt (1 –7 Mar): Men’s Qualifier featuring eight teams.
- Hyderabad, India (8 –14 Mar): Women’s Qualifier with eight teams.
From established hockey powers to rising challengers, these tournaments will showcase global talent and fierce competition.
What’s at Stake
These Qualifiers are the final gateway to the World Cup — a tournament that brings together some of the world’s best hockey sides. Seven teams per gender will secure qualification through these events:
- The top three teams from each tournament automatically qualify.
- Additionally, the highest world-ranked fourth-placed team across the events also earns a coveted World Cup berth. (See qualification criteria here)
For teams just outside automatic qualification from continental events or Pro League qualification, this is the last chance to secure a place in August’s showpiece.
