Qualification Criteria

Age limit

All players shall be under 21 years of age as of 31 December 2022 that is all players shall be born on or after 1 January 2002.

Teams

The FIH Women’s Junior World Cup 2023 will consist of 16 teams.

The Host Nation – Chile

The host nation will be awarded 1 quota place.

Teams Qualified by Continental Federation

The Continental quotas are as follows:

  • Africa (2): The Top 2 teams in the Junior Africa Cup 2023
  • Asia (2): The Top 2 teams in the Junior Asia Cup 2023
  • Europe (2): The Top 2 teams in the EuroHockey Junior Championship 2022
  • Pan America (2): The Top 2 team in the Junior Pan American Championship 2023
  • Oceania (2): The Top 2 teams in the Junior Oceania Cup 2023

Teams Qualified via quotas awarded following the Women’s Junior World Cup 2022

The quotas are as follows:

  • The Top 5 teams in the Women’s Junior World Cup 2022 will grant an additional quota to their respective Continental Federations, not to a specific team. The Teams that will fill these additional quotas will also come from the Continental Championships
  • Based on the top 5 teams in the 2022 Women’s JWC being
    • Netherlands (EHF)
    • Germany (EHF)
    • England (EHF)
    • India (AHF)
    • Argentina (PAHF)

Therefore

  • Pan America are awarded 1 additional quota, to be filled by the 3rd team in the Junior Pan American Championship 2023
  • Asia are awarded 1 additional quota, to be filled by the 3rd team in the Junior Asia Cup 2023
  • Europe are awarded 3 additional quotas, to be filled by the 3rd, 4th and 5th teams in the EuroHockey Junior Championship 2022
