As the final stages of the current FIH Hockey Pro League season approach (starting from 13 June), let us hear from the participating teams. Today, Lisa Nolte, captain of the German women’s side, shares her thoughts.
As the FIH Hockey Pro League resumes in June, what key improvements do you think your team still needs to make to compete effectively at this level?
I think consistency at a high intensity and quality will be key for us as a team. We need to be efficient in the circles, taking our chances and staying disciplined defensively. Being dominant, penetrating and dangerous is crucial at this level.
How important is this Pro League phase in June for Germany to build momentum ahead of major tournaments like the World Cup and Asian Games?
This final phase of the Pro League is extremely important for us, especially with many matches in a short period of time. We are under pressure to get the next points, which makes it a perfect test and preparation to build rhythm and momentum ahead of the World Cup.
The Pro League will see Germany face top teams, including high-stake matches against Ireland or China — how is the team preparing for these big encounters?
In the Pro League every opponent is tough, so our preparation is always very detailed. We analyze the teams, focus on our structure, and make sure we’re mentally and physically ready to perform at a high level in every single match.
With the Pro League returning in June, how crucial will the support of Germany's passionate hockey fans be in motivating the team?
The support of our fans is always a huge factor for us. Their energy gives us an extra push, especially in the upcoming important games it can really make the difference.
As captain, what message would you like to give to the fans ahead of the Pro League matches in June regarding the team's ambitions and direction?
My message to the fans ahead is that we’re fully committed to giving everything in every single match. We have clear ambitions to take points and compete at the highest level. We want to create a special atmosphere like last year and turn these matches into a real highlight. If we all come together, team and fans, we can make it a great event and push ourselves to the next level.
