Question: How excited are you for the #FIHProLeague?
Atiq Arshad: It will be a unique experience to play in such a high-profile event spread over six months. This FIH initiative is aimed at enhancing hockey’s image and increase its TV viewership by many times. All these make it very exciting
Q: What makes #FIHProLeague different from other events?
AA: The time spend and travel. We are used to events lasting only two to three weeks but six month is a big time. After playing one or two games in one country, we will be moving to another place.
Q: Does it hurt you to not play hockey games in Pakistan?
AA: Yes, definitely. It would have been fantastic to play before our home crowd, including our family and friends. It has always been my dream to play before a packed house at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore. Nevertheless, they will catch us on TV.
Q: How will your preparation be different for the six-month long event?
AA: Our training camp is at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore as it has been most of the times in the past. Preparation for a six-month event is a new thing. We have to be at our physical best and also motivated for such a long period.
Q: Who will win?
AA: Well, obviously I would like to see Pakistan at the top but Belgium, Australia and Holland are the favourites.
